Warriors find finishing touch, beat Whittier 4-2

Tanner Wolf scored a clutch goal in the second half, helping Westmont defeat visiting Whittier College 4-2 in a nonconference men’s soccer match on Saturday at Thornington Field.

It was the Warriors’ first win of the season, evening their record at 1-1.

After Whittier scored on a penalty kick in the 47th minute to cut Westmont’s lead to 2-1, Wolf scored a minute later on a through pass from Cody Howen to restore a two-goal lead.

Howen followed with a goal in the 49th minute for a 4-1 lead. Jonathan Yeeles recorded his second assist of the match.

Yeeles gave the Warriors a 1-0 lead in the 26th minute off passes from Nana Akyen and Howen.

In the 29th minute, Yeeles hit a ball over the Whittier defense to Akyen, who chipped over the goalkeeper for a 2-0 lead.
