SBHS freshmen beat Centennial, improve to 4-1

Quarterback Jeremiah Nicholson passed for two touchdowns and more than 250 yards, leading the Santa Barbara High freshman football team to a 28-16 win at Centennial of Bakersfield on Thursday.

Christopher Jellison and Will Beightol caught TD passes, and Elijah Kloop, Ruben Valez and Brandon Pineda led the rushing attack.

On defense, the Dons picked off three passes and recovered a fumble. Linebacker Robert Tovar and linemen Colton Takis, Abraham Barazza and Edwin Rivera led the defensive charge for Santa Barbara, which improved to 4-1.

The freshman Dons are coached by former varsity coaches Lito Garcia and Jaime Melgoza.
