Two local indoor players are on the U.S. men’s national volleyball team playing at the NORCECA Continental Championships in Langley British Columbia, Canada.
Jeff Menzel and Carson Clark are on coach John Speraw’s roster. Menzel is a graduate of San Marcos High and UCSB. Clark is a Santa Barbara High and UC Irvine grad.
In Team USA’s opening-match victory (25-12, 25-10, 25-11) Monday against St. Lucia, Menzel started the second and third sets and finished with seven points on five attacks and two aces. Menzel was playing in his first match with the U.S. senior team.
The Championship winner will qualify for the FIVB Grand Champions Cup in November in Japan.
