Bishop, Nordhoff, Carpinteria claim top-3 rankings

If the latest set of football rankings released today are any indication, the Tri-Valley League is shaping up as one of the toughest in CIF’s Southern Section this fall.

The top three teams -?No. 1 Bishop Diego, No. 2 Nordhoff, and No. 3 Carpinteria – all hail from the TVL.

No. 8 Oak Park is another TVL team, giving the league top-10 rankings for 4-of-5 members. The fifth team, Santa Paula, blew out Hueneme 50-10 in its season opener.

Bishop Diego and Nordhoff held on to their preseason ranking while Carpinteria moved up from No. 6 after a 48-0 rout of Templeton. All three teams are in action this Friday. ?Carpinteria travels to South Torrance, Bishop Diego heads to Santa Ynez, and Nordhoff plays Pacifica.

League games don’t begin until October.
