After redshirting in 2011, Irene Kujore came back strong last year. Kujore qualified for NCAA Championships in discus and shot put, where she placed 33rd in both.

Kujore is in her last year of eligibility and is off to a great start of the 2013 indoor track season. At the UW Invitational, Kujore placed second in the weight throw in a predominately Pac-12 field. She had four throws over 61 feet, which put together her best series yet. Irene came back strong in shot put where she placed fifth and set a new indoor personal record. Her performance in the weight throw places her 26th on the NCAA Division I Indoor Qualifying List.

The Gauchos kick-off their 2013 season with the annual Gaucho Track and Field Roundup on February 16th, following the meet against Westmont and Pepperdine. The Gaucho Roundup will take place at UCSB’s Corwin Pavilion in the University Center. The event will include dinner, drinks and entertainment and all proceeds will benefit the track and field programs.
