Bishop Diego placed five players on the All-CIF Northwest Division football team, which was released on Tuesday.
The Cardinals, who went 12-1, losing only to North Torrance in the semifinals, put juniors Aidan Williams, Anthony Carter and Nolan Tooley on the offensive team and senior Justin Brosnan and junior Christian Pearson on the defensive squad. Brosnan played defensive end and Pearson was a middle linebacker. Williams played running back, Carter was one of the team’s two quarterbacks and Tooley played tight end.
The offensive player of the year was North Torrance quarterback Jorge Hernandez, and Brad Sloan of Nordhoff was selected as the defensive player of the year.
Nordhoff’s Tony Henney, who guided the Rangers to their first CIF title, was named Coach of the Year.
