VIDEO: Jamaal Wilkes’ Lakers jersey retirement ceremony

Santa Barbara High alum Jamaal Wilkes had his No. 52 jersey retired last night by the Los Angeles Lakers at Staples Center.

Here is a video of the halftime ceremony when Wilkes is introduced by general manager Mitch Kupchack.

“You may know him as Keith Wilkes from his school days in Santa Barbara,” Kupchack begins.

Wilkes starred at Santa Barbara High in the late 1960?s before playing for John Wooden at UCLA. Wilkes continued on to have a decorated NBA career, which included three all-star appearances and four NBA titles with the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors. He won two NCAA titles at UCLA and was a part of UCLA’s storied 88-game winning streak.

It’s been an amazing year for Wilkes, who was inducted into the James Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in September.
