KEYT REPORT: Santa Barbara High’s starting quarterback suspended for season

Santa Barbara High senior quarterback Shawn Ramos.

KEYT is reporting that Santa Barbara High quarterback Shawn Ramos has been suspended for the season due to an unspecified violation of school rules. School Principal John Becchio and Athletic Director Joe Chenoweth confirmed the suspension.

“Shawn has been suspended for the remainder of the season due to breaking school policies,” Chenoweth said in an email to Presidio Sports.

That means the Dons’ starting senior QB will not be available for Friday’s Channel League showdown with Dos Pueblos or the CIF playoffs. Santa Barbara’s backup quarterback is James “Eli” Hale, and the varsity team has called up JV quarterback Brent Peus.
