McConnell’s Endurance Events enjoys 34th year

The 34th McConnell’s Ice Cream Endurances Events were held at Goleta Beach on Sunday, with a 10k and 5k run highlighting a handful of competitive events that attracted hundreds of athletes and spectators to the annual fundraising event for Club West Youth Track.

Carlyle Eubank was the fastest in the 5k and Curley Guillen claimed the top spot in the 10k. Guillen’s winning time of 33 minutes and 57 seconds edged second-place finisher Ricky Ho by 40 seconds. Guillen averaged 5:28 per mile.

Eubank’s 5k was clocked at 15:54, the only sub-16 minute time.

For the women, Joy Moats won the 10k in 37:50. In the 5k, Tabitha Elwood crossed first in 20:09.

COMPLETE RESULTS

Twelve-year-old Joshua McGregor, who is featured in the video above, was the youngest top-30 finisher in the 5k. McGregor recorded the 8th-best time overall.
