Coe runs away with Nite Moves 5k victory

Former Cabrillo High and Cal distance running standout Michael Coe blitzed the field in the 5k run at Wednesday?s Santa Barbara Nite Moves.

Coe, 24, covered the distance up Shoreline Drive and back to Leadbetter Beach in 15 minutes, 11 seconds, a pace of 4:54 per mile. Jared Wong of Moraga was second and local triathlete Kyle Visin finished third. Janine Tuttle of Santa Barbara was the first female finisher.

RESULTS?* SEASON BESTS

In the 1k ocean swim, Dos Pueblos freshman Alex Valente, 15, took top honors in 14:39. Right behind him was Ben Brewer, 14, in 14:44. Kristina Hill, a former UCSB triathlete, was the women?s winner in 16:50.

Chris Dall, 21, a former Santa Barbara High water polo standout, won the swim-run aquathon in a time of 37:37. He was the fourth overall finisher in the swim (15:37) and completed the run in 22:00. Hill was the top women in 38:35.
