Royals tripped up by single run again

One-run games have not gone San Marcos’ way this Channel League season, as the Royals dropped their fifth such decision in a 4-3 loss to Ventura on Monday.

Jimmy Brakka and Joe Prince contributed hits to a two-run first for the Royals. Sean MacDuffee’s hit in the third led to a single run but San Marcos did not score after that.

Jay Navarro started on the mound for the Cougars and earned the victory.

San Marcos falls to 3-8 in league play while Ventura ups its record to 5-5.
