League-leading Dons overcome Jivkov, Royals

Santa Barbara won its first six sets in doubles on Thursday to take the inside track towards an 11-7 Channel League victory over San Marcos.

San Marcos' Petar Jivkov swept three sets on Thursday against the league-leading Dons.

The Dons finished off the match having won 8-of-9 doubles sets, including three from the team of Ryan Chung and Jordan Rodnick.

Petar Jivkov highlighted San Marcos day with his three-set sweep in singles play. Jivkov is 42-3 this season.

“That was the best performance I have seen so far this season from any opponent we have played,” said Dons head coach Greg Tebbe. “Jivkov was just outstanding today.”

The Dons (10-1, 7-0) play again on Saturday against the No. 2 team in Division 1 Corona del Mar. That match begins at 11:30 at the Tennis Club of Santa Barbara.
