Harris pitches gem to beat San Marcos

Hannah Harris had 11 Ks and no earned runs in seven innings.

Hannah Harris struck out 11 batters in a complete-game performance that pushed the Dos Pueblos softball team to a 5-2 victory over Channel League rival San Marcos.

Harris allowed just two hits and no earned runs and did not walk a batter in her seven innings of work.

She also helped her own cause at the plate. Harris was hit on the elbow twice in a game earlier this week, and was forced to bat right-handed for the first time in her career. The left side of the plate treated her well and she smacked a double on her first at bat.

Agnetta Cleland also added to the Chargers’ offense, going 2-for-4 with a double.

The Royals took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth, but Dos Pueblos finished strong and scored all five of their runs in the sixth and seventh innings.

San Marcos (4-10 overall, 1-5 CL) will play next on Monday in the Best of the West Tournament.

The Chargers (11-2 overall, 5-1 CL) are ranked third in CIF Division 4 and will continue their season on Wednesday in the Rio Mesa Pac View Tournament.
