Carson Williams and Chaz Downing swept their three sets for Corona del Mar’s boys tennis team on Saturday in a 12-6 victory over Santa Barbara High at the Tennis Club of Santa Barbara.
Alec Adamson triumphed in 2 of his 3 sets to give the Sea Kings eight-of-nine singles points in the match of top-10 CIF Division 1 teams. The rankings held for the No. 2 Sea Kings (16-2) and No. 5 Dons (10-2).
Nico Pollero and Logan Liddell teamed at No. 1 doubles to win their three sets for the Don’s one sweep of the day.
“In the end Corona Del Mar was just the better team on this particular day. I hope we get a chance to see them again in the playoffs,” explained Dons head coach Greg Tebbe.
Graham Maassen was the only Dons’ singles player to take a set off the trio of highly ranked players from Corona del Mar.
Santa Barbara returns to Channel League play on Tuesday in a home match against Dos Pueblos.
