Bishop Diego bested by Malibu

The Bishop Diego High boys volleyball team was edged out in three straight sets in a road match against Malibu.

Tuesday’s Tri-Valley League game ended with scores of 25-20, 25-20 and 26-24.

“We were right there with them in every game,” Cardinals assistant coach Blake Dorfman said.

Despite the loss, the Cardinals received several quality performances. Michael Winnewisser had an excellent hitting night, recording nine kills on thirteen attempts. Ryan Inglehart added six more kills.

On defense, Casey Conneely contributed six digs while Brandon Gonzalez kept the ball moving for the Cardinals and finished with 22 assists.

Bishop Diego (4-9 overall, 3-8 TVL) will play next on Thursday against Nordhoff at home.
