Ventura edges Vaqueros 5-4

It all came down to the last two doubles on Tuesday at Ventura College and the Pirates prevailed in both sets to edge SBCC 5-4 in a WSC men’s tennis match.
Joshua Crisp-Jones, Miles Seemann and Troy Akin earned singles points for the Vaqueros (1-1) with Crisp-Jones and Seemann teaming up for an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles. The Pirates (5-1, 1-0) have won the last six WSC titles.

The final two doubles were both tight with SBCC falling 8-6 in each one.

“This team has a lot of potential and you’re going to see lots of improvement as the year goes on,” said SBCC coach Ryan Heinberg.

The Vaqueros travel to Bakersfield on Tuesday.
