The Bishop Diego baseball team was unable to generate much offense against Nordhoff and lost 3-0.

Tuesday’s home game was the Cardinals’ opener and despite the loss, the team showed plenty of promise.

“Our guys had a lot of positive energy,” head coach Dan Yokubaitis said. “We’re going to be very compeitive this year.”

Nolan Tooley started the game for Cardinals and pitched five solid innings before Jack Gregson came in to relieve him.

The team will continue its season with a doubleheader on Saturday at Santa Maria.
