The 2012 Rincon Classic has been called off this weekend and will wait another week for better conditions.

The advisory board for the “locals only” surf contest voted unanimously to postpone the event for the first waiting weekend due to poor wind and rain predictions for both days.

A message posted on the contest website stated: “This being the first waiting weekend in the period it was an easy decision to hold off on the event. The decision was made on behalf of competitors, spectators, community, staff, and sponsors in order to wait for the best possible conditions to hold the storied event in.”

The 2012 event is on call for next weekend. The decision will be made depending on how the predicted swell and conditions shape up as the week progresses.

The official call will be made at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Visit Presidio Sports later in the week for more information or visit RinconClassic.com
