The Chargers’ first opponent was La Serna, and the two teams played each other to a 0-0 stalemate in regulation time.

The game headed to a penalty kick shootout, and the first three shooters for each team converted their shots.

With pressure building, Dos Pueblos goalkeeper Alex Camarillo came up with a crucial save and put her team through to the next round.

Still soaring from the momentum off their previous win, the Chargers came out strong against JSerra.

Rosalba Barbosa found Rachel Smith to put Dos Pueblos ahead 1-0. The scored stayed that way until the final five minutes of the game when JSerra scored twice and knocked the Chargers out of the tournament.

“It was a bummer,” Dos Pueblos defender Jamie Benedetto said. “We dominated the whole game and played some of our best soccer.”

The Chargers play next at home against San Marcos on Tuesday.

The Chargers enjoyed a successful tournament in Orange County, winning 3-of-4 games.
