Coast Union cuts down Lions in first round

Providence Hall is still looking for that first CIF victory after a 25-12, 25-17, 25-19 defeat at Coast Union on Tuesday in the first round of Division V-A playoffs.

The Lions are in their second season playing in CIF competition and have made the postseason both years. Providence Hall has a great to reach the playoffs again next season as the Lions only lose one senior, Faith Emerson.

“We played well, we’re just not at their level,” said Lions assistant coach Laura Trudelle.

Emerson led Providence Hall in her final high school match, tallying team-highs in kills and digs with six and 14, respectively.

“On her six kills she creamed the ball, they were beuatiful. She pretty much put away every ball,” Trudelle said. “Faith has been a huge part of the team. She’s a great example of what it’s like to be a great athlete. She will be missed.

Hannah Park collected 12 digs and Olivia Barroca kept 7 balls in play with digs.

Trudelle said Coast Union was led by their setter, “That one player ran the show.”

Providence Hall finishes its season with a winning record of 11-8.
