Arroyo Grande pushed past Dos Pueblos on Friday night in the first round of CIF’s Western Division, posting a 41-6 decision behind the play of quarterback Brent Vanderveen.
The Eagles outgained the Chargers 369 to 157 on offense. Vanderveen threw a pair of touchdown passes and rushed for another. Vanderveen completed 12-of-18 passes for 169 yards and added 26 yards rushing on five carries.
Dos Pueblos was trailing 41-0 in the fourth quarter when senior running back Josh Bartley found the endzone on a 14-yard run. Bartley finished with 61 yards on the ground on 19 carries.
The Chargers started their season 0-7 but reached the postseason by winning their final three games along with the City Championship.
Arroyo Grande (10-1) will face St. Francis in the next round. The Knights defeated Paramount 45-28.
