The Santa Barbara Foresters defeated Team Vegas 8-1 in the final game of the regular season to earn a share of the California Collegiate League title.Both the Foresters and the San Luis Obispo Blues finished with a 24-12 league record. UCSB’s Orlando Johnson surived the first cut of players trying out for the USA Basketball Junior National Team that will compete at the World University Games in China.Johnson, who is entering his senior year for the Gauchos, is one of the 14 finalists who will stay at the training camp in Colorado Springs through Aug. 7. There was barely enough room in the car for Miguel Nava to go on a road trip to the Decathlon Open squash tournament in Santa Clara recently.At the tournament, there wasn’t an opening in his division, so he was forced to play up a division.That didn’t matter to the unflappable Nava. Jacquie Misho shot even par on the back nine at Sandpiper Golf Course and pulled away from Fumie Sato to win the championship flight at the Santa Barbara Women’s Open on Thursday.Misho held a one-shot lead (78 to 79) over Sato after Wednesday’s first round at the Santa Barbara Golf Club.
