SBVC 14-Smack wins five matches at Junior Nationals

Santa Barbara Volleyball Club's 15-Smack celebrate a victory at the USA Volleyball Junior Nationals.

After a rough start, the Santa Barbara Volleyball Club’s 14-Smack won five of its last six matches and finished 23rd in the open division at the USA Volleyball Junior Nationals in Atlanta.The team lost its first three matches in the tournament and suffered a blow when setter Lexi Rottman injured her ankle chasing after a ball.Santa Barbara turned things around on Day 2. Aguayo shuts down Foresters in second straight loss

THOUSAND OAKS -- Conejo Oaks starter J.C. Swim club members tear it up at Nite Moves

Walker Bell and his teammates from the Santa Barbara Swim Club were all over the place in Nite Moves No. 9 on Wednesday at Leadbetter Beach.Walker, who recently celebrated his 14th birthday, won his eighth 1k swim in a time of 13 minutes, 56 seconds. Coffin hauls in national title in surfing

Santa Barbara's Parker Coffin took home a national title on Saturday at Lower Trestles, winning the U16 boys division at the USA Surfing Championships.Coffin won the title by besting Ian Gentil, Kain Daily and Cam Richards in the final. Coffin posted a two-wave score of 17.80 and clinched the victory with a long ride late in the heat. SBSC lands three members on SoCal All-Star team

Three members of the Santa Barbara Swim Club earned spots on an all-star team that will compete in an international meet in Mexico in August.Olivia Smith, Maelyn Adornetto and James Daugherty qualified for the Southern California Swimming All-Stars at meets last weekend. Austin Bull blasted two homers to support Chris Noggle’s complete-game pitching performance in Dos Pueblos Little League’s 13-2 rout over Fillmore in a District 63 12-under All-Star Tournament game on Tuesday at Girsh Park.Noggle helped his cause with a three-run homer.
