State leader Nick Scarvelis should get pushed Friday in the shot put at the CIF-Southern Section Masters Track and Field Meet at Cerritos College.The Masters is the final step before the CIF State Meet. Harvard Westlake coach started his career at UCSB

Ryan Thompson has resigned as baseball coach at Santa Barbara City College after just one season.Thompson guided the Vaqueros to the Western State Conference North Division championship, their first postseason series win and their first Southern California Super Regional appearance. Widoff keeps Nite Moves streak alive

Cam Widoff made it 4-for-4 on Wednesday, winning the aquathon at Nite Moves for the fourth straight week on Wednesday.Widoff, 41, completed the 1k swim/5k run in 36 minutes and 17 seconds, beating out Norbert Hoehne's race of 37:15. Widoff and Hoehne were the only two with sub-40 minute times.Zach Campbell was tops in the 5k run while Cameron Whiting recorded the fastest time in the ocean swim. Sacramento State joining Big West for men’s soccer

Big West men’s soccer just got stronger.The conference announced that Sacramento State will compete as an associate member in men's soccer beginning in the fall of 2012.The Hornets have been a perennial top 10 team in the West Region for the last few years.
