Three UC Santa Barbara baseball players were named to the All-Big West First Team, the conference announced on Tuesday, marking the first time since 2001 that the Gauchos had that many players honored on the Big West’s top squad.Outfielder Mark Haddow, second baseman Sean Williams and reliever Bryce Uhrig were named to the conference’s first team, giving UCSB three spots, which was the second-most in the conference along with Cal State Fullerton. Newnan headed to UCLA
After nine years as a Westmont women's basketball assistant coach, Tony Newnan has announced that he will be moving on to serve as an assistant coach at UCLA under Cori Close. Close, who played and coached at UC Santa Barbara, was recently named the new head coach of the Bruins. Dos Pueblos last played in a CIF softball title game in 2005.The Chargers are one step away from getting back to the final. Gauchos looking for a new baseball coach; Brontsema reassigned

UCSB's Bob Brontsema has been relieved of his duties as baseball coach and will move into an administration position in the school's athletics department, Mark W. Massari, director of athletics announced Sunday after the Gauchos' final regular season game.Brontsema has been part of the UCSB baseball program for 30 years, the last 18 as the head coach.
