SBCC’s Ward shoots 76 in WSC tourney No. 5

Dodge Ward fired a 76 on Monday for SBCC but the Vaqueros couldn’t find their groove in WSC No. 5 at San Dimas Golf Course.

Canyons won with a season-low 350, beating Citrus by 17 shots in the seven-team competition. Aaron West of Canyons was the medalist at 5-under 67.

Reese Hutchins shot 77 and Matt Boberg had a 79 for Santa Barbara, which finished last at 395.

“This was one of the easier courses we’ve played and there were a lot of red numbers,” said SBCC coach Chuck Melendez. “Unfortunately, we didn’t have many of them.”

SBCC will travel to Fillmore on Monday to compete in WSC No. 6 at Elkins Ranch.
