Chargers provide plenty of support for Speier

Sophomore Gabe Speier frustrated L.A. City power El Camino Real with timely pitches to get out of jams, and Dos Pueblos enjoyed one of its best offensive days of the young baseball season in a 13-4 win Thursday in the Easton Tournament.

“We put all three aspects of the game together,” DP coach Nate Mendoza said. “We were above average in the three aspects: hitting, pitching and defense.”

Speier handled the pitching part. He got double plays to end threats in the first and third innings and struck out El Camino’s No. 3 hitter with the bases loaded in the fourth.

“He didn’t have his best stuff, but he showed composure,” said Mendoza. “He let our defense play behind him.”

Shortstop Steve Reveles keyed the DP defensive effort.

He also played a key part in the offense, going 3-for-5 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored.

Michael Spiritosanto went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored and sophomore Dylan Rohde belted his first varsity a homer, a two-run shot in the fourth inning, and went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and scored a run.

Dos Pueblos (2-2) plays at Simi Valley on Saturday.
