Royals overtaken in second half at Bonita

LA VERNE – In a tale of two halves, San Marcos played solid basketball in the first two quarters against fifth-seeded Bonita. But the Royals stumbled in the second half and dropped a 60-46 decision on Friday in a CIF Division 3A second-round playoff game.

San Marcos led 29-21 at halftime. A buzzer shot by the Bearcats, however, was a sign of what was to come in the second half.

Bonita’s Jordan Butler and James Northrup sparked a 12-2 run to start the third period, and the Bearcats pulled away and eliminated the Royals.

Seniors Christian Mkpado and Johnny Manzo each scored 13 points for the Royals (18-10).
