SBCC’s Somdah, Vines earn WSC honors

SBCC sophomore Richard Somdah has been named to the first-team All-WSC North men’s basketball squad and teammate Chris Vines was an honorable mention choice.Somdah, a 6-3 forward from Houston, Texas, was the ninth-leading scorer in the 14-team conference, averaging 16.4 points. The left-hander scored 20, 20, 21 and 22 points in his last four games. The UCSB women's swimming and diving team placed second at the first Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championship on Saturday night. The No. 15 UCSB Gauchos (9-4) faced No.4 California (11-2) in the round of the UC Irvine Invitational on Saturday. The Golden Bears were able to take advantage of multiple UCSB fouls and pulled away in the second half for the victory, 10-6. The Bishop Diego girls basketball team couldn't seem to find a rhythm in front a big crowd at Santa Barbara High School on Saturday night, falling to Chadwick 37-26 in the CIF Division 5-A Semifinals.
