Chargers stumble at home against Hueneme

An off-day by the Dos Pueblos boys soccer team resulted in a 2-0 home loss on Wednesday against unbeaten Hueneme.

“We certainly played hard,” DP coach Tovi Eliasen said. “We lacked some quality all throughout, defensively, in the midfield and in our attack. We didn’t play with the same quality that earned us  wins earlier in the year. We made too many mistakes.”

The visiting Vikings (7-0 and ranked 8th in Division 3) scored both of their goals after losing a player to a red card in the 50th minute.

“They scored 11 minutes after the red card,” Eliasen said. “It’s pretty difficult to keep your head up and keep attacking after something like that.”

DP outshot Hueneme 13-6.

“This was a tough one to swallow, especially playing at home,” Eliasen said. “We expect more of ourselves at home.”

Dos Pueblos, ranked fifth in CIF Division 1, falls to 9-2-1.
