Cardinals tripped up by Cougars

Dylan Houck had 21 points and Ventura proved a tough matchup for Bishop Diego’s boys basketball team on Tuesday, as the Cardinals fell 70-27 to the Cougars in the opening game of the Oak Park Tournament.

“They’re a very good team,” said Cardinals head coach Dean Prophet. “They got into a groove and they made us play faster than we probably should have.”

Elias Muñoz led Bishop in scoring with eight points and Sam Kwock added seven. Johnny Diaz brought down a team-high seven rebounds.

Bishop Diego stands at 1-1 on the season after the loss and takes on Oak Park on Wednesday in pool play.

Ventura improves to 4-1 overall.
