Bishop Diego nearly doubled Coast Union’s point total on Tuesday at the VCA Tournament, as the Cardinals girls basketball team opened tournament play with a 67-35 victory.
Kelsey Stimson led four Cardinals in double-figures with 14 points. Allison Breuer and Josie McCoy added 12 each. Karina Valencia posted 12 rebounds and eight points.
Bishop hadn’t played a game in two weeks but jumped out to a 33-14 halftime lead. Courtney Houston gave the Cardinals a boost by scoring six of her 10 points in the first quarter.
