Warriors bounced by No. 7 Biola

Despite 15 kills and a .344 attack percentage from Alison Sharp, Westmont Volleyball (14-13, 7-11 GSAC) suffered a three-set loss (25-19, 25-23, 25-12) to seventh-ranked Biola (24-7, 15-3) on Saturday afternoon in La Mirada.

Tied at seven in the first set, the Eagles posted a 7-2 run to take control of the set. The Warriors were unable to make up the difference before the end of the set.

In the second set, Westmont turned a six-six lead into a 12-7 advantage with a 6-1 run that was fueled by kills from five different Warriors. The Eagles worked their way back to a 14-14 tie before Westmont pulled ahead 19-15 on three kills by Sharp. But the Eagles charged back again, tying the game at 23 and then scoring the next two points to take a two-set-to-none lead.

The third set was all Eagles. Biola jumped out to a 9-2 lead and the Warriors would get no closer that five points the rest of the way.

The Warriors will close out the regular season with two home games next week. On Tuesday, the Warriors will take host The Master’s (7-20, 2-17) in a seven o’clock game at Murchison Gymnasium. Then on Saturday, the Warriors will host #3 Fresno Pacific (26-2, 17-1).
