Sergey Sushchikh placed fifth to lead the Dos Pueblos boys to a 10th-place finish in their division at the CIF State Cross Country Championships Saturday at Woodward Park in Fresno.Sushchikh ran the 5-kilometer course in 15 minutes, 21 seconds — the 24th fastest time overall.Two-time defending champion Elias Gedyon of Loyola won the Division 2 individual title with a time of 14:52. Second-ranked USC held seventh-seeded UCSB scoreless through three quarters on Friday morning on its way to a 10-2 victory in the opening round of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championship at Stanford's Avery Aquatic Center.The two-time defending national champions went up 4-0 in the first quarter and then led by seven goals at halftime. Uribe caps SBCC career with Player of Year award

SBCC quarterback John Uribe was honored as Offensive Player of the Year by the American Pacific Conference and five of his teammates were selected to the all-conference first team.Uribe, a 6-foot sophomore from Santa Barbara High, led the APC in passing, completing 182 of 291 for 2,554 yards and 23 touchdowns with just seven interceptions.
