Busy Dons take care of business to clinch outright title

Lauren Stratman of Dos Pueblos and the Santa Barbara High girls tennis team continued their winning ways on the court Wednesday.

While Stratman powered through her three singles sets to remain unbeaten on the year, the Dons won their 10th straight match with a 13-5 decision at DP to secure the outright Channel League team title. It’s the 30th consecutive league championship for Santa Barbara.

Junior Taryn Mjelde posted a pair of 6-1 set victories to lead the Dons in singles. The senior sister duo of Ariana Hudson and Talia Hudson led a Santa Barbara domination in doubles with three set wins. The team posted a perfect 9-0 record in doubles.

For DP, Stratman lost two games to Santa Barbara’s Hayley Hranicky-Galitzer and blanked her other two opponents.

Santa Barbara, playing its second match in two days, gets a day off before heading to Orange County to compete in the All-American Tournament in Orange County,

Santa Barbara improves to 11-3 and 7-0 in Channel League while Dos Pueblos is 6-3, 4-3.
