Sometimes bad things happen to the best of people, and the local sports community was given an unfortunate example during Monday's Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table press luncheon.San Marcos tennis and basketball coach Jarrod Bradley announced that local coaching legend John Ward has been diagnosed with advanced colon cancer, and has been in the hospital receiving chemotherapy treatments. Fresno Pacific's Isai Orea and Amanda Johnson were winners at this year's Westmont Cross Country Invitational, which showcased a new course on the Warriors' campus.Despite the lack of individual titles, Westmont's men's and women's teams were champions together for only the eighth time in the event's 30-year history.The men ran an 8k race and the women a 5k on the up-and-down course that loops around the school, which has gone through some major renovations."We think we have a … [Read more...]
