Scarvelis breaks shot put record, DP boys win league

It may have just been a matter of time, but junior thrower Nick Scarvelis toppled Jim Odoms' 35-year-old Dos Pueblos record in the shot put on Thursday, throwing a personal-best 60-feet, 10.5 inches. Odoms threw 60-7.5 way back in 1975.Scarvelis' throw was part of the DP boys team's 97-29 win over Santa Barbara, which wrapped up the Channel League title for the Chargers. The DP girls won 95-32.
