Mayer rides City College success to Butler

SBCC’s Maria Mayer has signed a national letter-of-intent to play women’s volleyball at Butler University in Indianapolis in the fall.

Mayer, a 6-foot left-handed opposite from San Marcos High, helped the Vaqueros to one of their best seasons last fall. They went 21-3 and won their first Western State Conference championship in 11 years with a 9-1 mark. They also had a school-record 12-game win streak and a record-tying 21 wins.
