Griffin, Emerson, Schulenberg garner All-CIF attention

Santa Barbara High will be led by senior Tess Emerson at this year's Tournament of Champions.

Santa Barbara High's Rebecca Griffin and Tess Emerson were named All-CIF on Monday, landing on Division III-A's second team. Laguna Blanca's Amanda Schulenberg made it on Division VI-AA's first team.Channel League champion Buena placed two players on All-CIF teams. Tennant’s season best keeps SBCC in third

Jesse Ferris and Cameron Tennant turned in 2-over-par 74s, guiding the SBCC men's golf team to a third-place finish in WSC No. 4 at the SCGA Course in Murrieta.Canyons and Bakersfield tied for first at even-par 360 and Canyons won the sixth-man scorecard playoff to improve to 22-2 in conference. LOS ANGELES -- The field event athletes highlighted UCSB's weekend at the Cal/Nevada meet, held at UCLA's Drake Stadium and featuring colleges from the states of California and Nevada.Jane Doolittle stayed in good form by clearing six feet in the high jump for the first time, winning the competition. Vaqs hold on to Bash at Beach

Kailey Snyder used her arm and bat to spark SBCC to a 6-1 softball win over Saddleback on Sunday and the Vaqueros went on to capture their own Bash at the Beach tournament despite losing the afternoon game to L.A. Valley, 7-2.SBCC, Saddleback and Golden West all finished with 3-1 records in the two-day event at Pershing Park but the Vaqueros won the title, thanks to a 30-28 advantage in runs scored over Saddleback.  The UCSB men's tennis team ended its four-game home stand with a 7-0 sweep against Dartmouth.To begin the match, the Gauchos swept the Big Green in doubles to lock down the doubles point. From that point on, UCSB's three freshmen took over to seal the win.Lucas Sudow dropped only one game in his victory against Dartmouth's Michael Laser, 6-0, 6-1.
