Schulenberg’s 21 runs Owls into next round

Amanda Schulenberg poured in 21 points on Saturday, taking the Laguna Blanca girls basketball team past Hesperia Christian 60-57 in the second round of the Div. VI-AA playoffs.

Hesperia Christian rallied in the fourth quarter by outscoring the Owls by seven but the Patriots ran out of time.

Megan McAlister was a force in the lane, recording nine points, 14 rebounds and six blocks. Schulenberg also had six assists to go with her point total. Freshmen Marla Bonser came on in the second quarter, scoring eight points in four minutes.

The Owls really won the game in the third quarter, when they built a 10-point cushion going into the final frame by outscoring Hesperia 20-14 in the third quarter.
