Mackenzie Walsh and the Cate girls cross country team locked in CIF Finals berths on Saturday at the CIF Division V Prelims, assuring at least one more race next Saturday at Mt. SAC.

Walsh completed the course in 20 minutes and 33 seconds, which was the sixth-best time in Cate history at Mt. SAC. It was good for fifth place overall on Saturday.

The girls team placed seventh to advance. Denali Tietjen (23rd; 22:11), Lexi Greenwald (26th; 22:19) and Charlotte Bowles (29th; 22:25) came after Walsh. Adrian Walsh battled through an injury to be Cate’s fifth scorer.

The boys team finished 12th overall. Austin Lokre (64th; 19:45) and Ahmed Bou-Rabee (66th; 19:58) both broke 20 minutes. Jason Park, Michael Hassman, Mark Mullan and Bill Pomerans reached the end less than a minute later.
