Chargers go down to El Toro

Dos Pueblos didn’t give itself a chance on Friday, staking No. 4 El Toro a seven-goal lead by halftime on the way to a 16-7 CIF playoff loss.

“We tried to chip away but we couldn’t make any headway,” said Chargers coach Chris Parrish, who admitted he thought his team was going to have a better showing.

Dos Pueblos, co-Channel League champions, close out the season with a 22-8 record.

Derek Shoemaker scored four times to lead the Chargers. Christian Terpening recorded a goal and an assist along with a team-high five steals. Kevin Cappon and Chase Racich also scored.
