Chargers CIF run stays smooth

The Dos Pueblos girls volleyball team still hasn’t dropped a set during its CIF run, which is all the way to the Div. I-A semifinals after a 25-21, 25-13, 25-22 sweep at El Toro on Saturday.

ThreePicklesFreeSodaDP will travel to Laguna Beach for their next match on Tuesday. Santa Barbara and Marymount are paired up in the other semifinal.

Sam Wopat and Sally Yingst led offensively for the Chargers, recording 11 and 9 kills respectively. Paige Craine was effective at the service line, collecting six aces, including three late in the third game that were critical to DP closing the match out.

“They were digging a lot of hard swings,” said Dos Pueblos assistant coach Greg Novak of the El Toro Chargers, saying they had improved since an earlier meeting at a preseason tournament.
