Cate’s Mackenzie Walsh moved as fast as she ever has on her home course, recording a personal best on the Rams’ course during the season’s second Condor League meet on Wednesday.
Walsh (20:26) led the Cate girls to the team win followed by Thacher and Laguna Blanca.
Thacher’s boys beat out Midland, Cate and Laguna Blanca, in that order.
Laguna’s Parker Lilly won the boys race in 16:48, a season best – one of the reasons Owls coach Miguel Galindo says he thinks his boys team can do better in the league finals on Nov. 4.
Laguna freshman Marla Bonser provided the Owls with another good result, crossing in third place in 22:01.
Spencer MacAvoy was Cate’s top male in 10th, but the boys team’s strength comes in its depth, as Austin Lokre led a string of six consecutive Ram finishers from 20-25th place.
