Cardinals endure the heat in loss to Rangers

Coach Suzanne Petrie focused on a crucial positive about Bishop Diego’s 15-3 girls tennis loss to Nordhoff in Ojai, where temperatures on the court were 110 degrees.

“No one died of heat exhaustion. They were just more acclimated than us I suppose,” she said.

Brittany Gignac picked up an impressive 6-0 win over the Rangers’ No. 1 player and Brenna Linehan posted a 6-1 set win in her final single match. Emily Duncan and Julia Rios won a set in doubles, while Petrie added that Kirsten Weistock and Yazmin Guzman continued to make consistent improvements.

The Cardinals will vie for their first win on Thursday at Santa Paula.
