The annual event hosts approximately 500 teams and includes open divisions for men and women, as well as AA, A, BB, B, the age divisions (40, 45, 50,55, 60, 65, 70, 75 years old), co-ed, reverse co-ed, and Special Olympics. Langin takes third at USA Cycling’s Mountain Bike National Championships

Gauchos will start sporting Nike’s swoosh

UCSB Athletics is proud to announce that the Gauchos will sport the `swoosh' on its athletic uniforms starting for the 2009-10 season. Nike is now the apparel provider of all 20 intercollegiate athletic teams.   Most UCSB teams will make the switch to Nike exclusivity immediately. Griffin calmly went out and made like Beethoven on Saturday, striking out 13 in seven innings as the Santa Barbara Foresters shut out the San Luis Obispo Rattlers 4-0. Westbury Wins Fencing National Championship

Cameron Westbury of Presidio Fencing Club is now a National Champion, having won the Division II Mens Foil Event at the 2009 Fencing National Championships held last week in Grapevine, TX.Westbury earned a berth to the event by first winning the Southern California National Qualifiers back in March.  In Texas, he competed in a field of over 150 other qualifiers from around the country.  He decidedly won the championship bout 15-10.Westbury is a 2009 graduate of Laguna Blanca and will … [Read more...]

SAN LUIS OBISPO — Matt Leonard pitched just the second no-hitter in Santa Barbara Foresters history on Friday in a 4-0 California Collegiate League win over the San Luis Obispo Rattlers.Now he owes a few people lunch.First on the list would be the surgeon who performed his Tommy John surgery 17 months ago. Reef & Run, Nite Moves Recap

Nite Moves and this year's new Reef & Run series completed the 12th of 20 installments in the weekly swim/run event season that runs until September 8.The Nite Moves 5k run was its busiest since June 24, with 264 runners participating. The top echelon had a major teenage presence as 18-year-olds Chris Braden and  Matthew Bailey finished 1 and 2 respectively.
