Royals drop one to Rio Mesa, 48-30

Jeannette Mendoza scored 15 points but the San Marcos girls basketball team couldn’t deliver a win on coach Kristyn Miller’s birthday, falling to a tough Rio Mesa squad 48-30. 

The Royals took a 7-3 lead after one quarter but allowed 24 points in the second and couldn’t climb back. San Marcos struggled from the free-throw line, making only six of 16 attempts.

Next up is Tuesday’s home game against Dos Pueblos.
