Rams hold on to perfect Condor League season

It had been a long day for Cate’s singles players against Laguna Blanca, having already lost 7-of-8 sets to the Owls at Pershing Park.

The Rams, undefeated uin Condor League play, clung to a 9-8 set lead in the match, when No. 2 singles player Carryn Barker clawed back to win her final set in a tiebreaker to give Cate the regular-season ending 10-8 victory.

Cate’s top-two doubles teams of Lela Puckett-Louisa Dick-Valdez and Annaliese Schroeder-Allegra Roth swept their sets to give the CIF-bound Rams a much-needed boost.

“Although we struggled on the singles side of things today against Laguna, I was especially pleased with the convincing effort of our doubles teams,” said coach Barbara DeGroot.

Cate’s No. 3 doubles team, Annelies Northup and Belle Kammer, chipped in two set wins.

CIF play begins next Thursday at Cate.
