SBHS spikers fall to Mitty in final

It was a big weekend for the Santa Barbara High girls spikers, as the Dons finished second in the Archbishop Mitty Tournament, eventually losing to the hosts in the title match, 25-23, 25-21, 21-25, 25-20.Earlier in the day, the Dons swept top-ranked Marymount 25-19, 29-15, 29-27 thanks to 31 assists by Natalie Guerra and 15 digs from Katherine Keller. Gaucho spikers off to perfect Big West start

FULLERTON —  The UCSB women's volleyball team extended its winning streak to a season-best three matches on Saturday evening as it defeated Cal State Fullerton at Titan Gym.The Gauchos defeated the Titans, 25-19, 22-25, 25-18, 25-16, posting their first four-set match victory of the 2008 season. Braden, Kosmo float over Lagoon

Christopher Braden continued to shine, as the Dos Pueblos cross-country standout finished third out of 131 runners on Saturday at the Lagoon Meet.His speedy time of 16:46 came despite it being the Chargers' third race in seven days."He really surprised me.  SAN DIEGO — Vanessa Shaw moved from libero to left-side hitter on Saturday and didn't miss a beat for the SBCC women's volleyball team.  Outside hitters Casey Griffin and Hilary Williamson led the Cate attack as the Rams went 2-9 in the Carpinteria girls volleyball tournament on Saturday. Maddie Firestone played middle and made some key blocks, while Evelyn Weis had some nice line shots on the right side, according to coach Anna Alldredge. U.S. Open draw finalized at East Beach
